Content of mono and disaccharides in soft drinks and their health impact.

Carbohydrates are an integral part of human diet. We distinguish them according to their length, usability, glycemic respond and taste. Sugars are mainly found in sweetened beverages and processed food. Consuming empty calories in the form of sugar sweetened drinks leads to the recommended daily allowance of sugars and total energy intake is being exceeded. It has negative impact on risk of civilization diseases like obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, dental carries and depression. Limiting the intake of sweetened beverages and industrial processed foods, principles of healthy diet and enough of exercise helps to prevent these diseases.

The subject of this thesis was to evaluate the use of sweeteners in a selected group of soft drinks from the viewpoint of the sensory quality. Using selected methods of sensory analysis were evaluated four samples of soft drinks with lemon flavor. The first sample A - Sprite contained aspartame, acesulfame K and fructose - glucose syrup. The second sample B - Slice consisted of the aspartame and acesulfame Ksweeteners. Sample C - Lemon contained only sugar and last sample D - Santerre, was composed of aspartame, acesulfame K and sodium saccharin. The evaluators were divided into two groups according to age. The first group of respondents was composed of students from the University of South Bohemia in the age of 18-27 years. The second group was composed of randomly selected people aged 40+. The aim of the thesis was to determine whether there is a disparity between the groups. Top rated sample became the sample A - Sprite. Differences occurred in sample B and C. Sample B which contains aspartame and acesulfame K was preferably evaluated bythe first group, whereas the second group consisting of older respondents evaluated preferably sample C Lemon. Lemon sample contains only sugar and its taste is therefore less noticeable or even perceived as without flavour, based on the evaluated results.The lowest rated sample was unambiguously sample D, which contains sweetener aspartame, acesulfame K and sodium saccharin. Part of this work was a questionnaire for consumers.Its main aim was to find out what mostly influences respondents when buying soft drinks, what attitude artificial sweeteners they have and if they find the composition of soft drinks determinative.
Analysis of the Coca-Cola Company´s position on non-alcoholic beverages market in the Czech Republic

The aim of this master thesis is to analyze the position of the Coca-Cola Company on the Czech market of non-alcoholic beverages using retail audit data. First of all, the information about non-alcoholic beverages market in the Czech Republic is provided as setting the context for the analysis itself. This includes the facts such as size, market structure and trends both in terms of covered categories and producers operating within the market. Subsequently, the Coca Cola Company as the globally largest producer of non-alcoholic beverages is presented into the given context and in relation to the main producers on the Czech market with emphasis on the segment of cola flavored drinks is assessed its position. The analysis primarily using hard retail audit data is in the final part of the thesis enriched with the results of the consumer survey delivering the important insights of consumers themselves.
International marketing strategy of soft drink Guaraná Antarctica

The thesis deals with the marketing strategy of Brazilian brand of soft drinks Guaraná Antarctica. Fisrt it describes the brand marketing strategy in the domestic market in Brazil and its entry to international markets. Furthermore the thesis analyzes market opportunities of this brand of drinks with guarana extract in Czech Republic and evaluate the trasfer of marketing strategies to Czech environment. As a result changes to the marketing strategy in order to improve brand's position on the Czech market are proposed.
Draft strategy for expansion of product ,,Kofola" to the Austrian market

The first part of the thesis describes the theories of international marketing. The second part deals with analysis of the company and brand Kofola at the Czech market, and summarizes the basic specifics of the company's expansion to Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Russia. The final part is devoted to analysis of Austrian soft-drinks market and drafts a strategy for Kofola there.
